Dear John,

It is a great effort to bring victims of Shami at one forum/blog spot. I have seen your website koolprintproblems.com and impressed.

You might not be knowing me but I appreciate your efforts to bring Shami Khokhar's (owner of Koolprint) real face before the world. In fact my son, Fawad Khan Pasha is also a victim at his hands.

Shami, whose actual name is Muhammad Ahtasham Khokhar son of Muhammad Kaleem Khokhar, belongs to the city of Lahore, Pakistan. I also live in the same city. It is here where whole the printing was done besides some sophisticated printing in Turkey. He got employed local staff who posed themselves as US citizens and used to take print orders on line, design them and get them printed at the printing press of his brother Jooni. All the printing was then shipped from Pakistan and Turkey to USA to be sold at exorbitant rates. Software Solutions is the Pakistan faction of Koolprint which is still being run by the brother of Shami. About 2/3 years back, they have shifted location from Aiwan-e-Iqbal to some unknown place.

In May 2005 Shami approached me through a common friend, Tariq Chaudry, and asked for some financial help for expanding the business. My son paid him $ 200,000 after proper documentation and contracts. Again in the year 2006 he obtained another $100,000 for establishing a branch of Koolprint in Dubai, UAE. He opened a company Koolprint Uae there also. For some time he paid some profit on the lending but after that he just disappeared from the scene. Now my son's whole life earning is in doldrums.

Please include me as one of the victims of Shami and help to get my son's money back from that swindler. I can help for getting any information regarding his antecedents in Pakistan. Please also advise further line of action to be taken.

Regards and good wishes,

I don't know how recent these postings are but I used them twice. The job I sent to them was business cards that had a spot varnish on both sides. The first shipment that came I saw was from overseas. If it's right I don't care. But I had to bounce the job because the spot varnish was way off and there were what looked like air bubbles on most of the cards as well as the color variation from one card to the next was way off. They got it right the second time.

My client was upset because of the delay, but i told him if I gave him those cards the way they were he would never use me again. A few years later on the reprint they were worse. I bounced it twice and after the second time they didn't want to issue a refund. I did some searching found several phone numbers to reps and still no refund. I then told them that if they did not give me a refund by a certain date I would launch a BBB claim and report them to my credit card company for fraudulent activity.

I followed through on the deadline date. After about perhaps a month and a half my credit card company refunded my money and I used another printer.

The bad part about all this is that they got it right once. Now I refuse to use them again and my client wants the same style cards because he loves them and gets rave reviews. A difficult thing to track down a printer who can do that.

Fortunately, I have a printer friend and as soon as he saw it he knew exactly how it was done. My cards were actually color copied and then run through a HP Indigo Printer with a reverse varnish. So now all I have to do is find someone with a Indigo that can do that kind of varnish.

For all those who are still trying to get payment my recommendation is to put in a fraud claim with your bank or credit card company and let them use their vaster resources to recoup the money they refund you. Cheers!

Received this email from an ex-employee of Kool Print.

--------------------

I just studied your efforts for KoolPrint these are great. I am one of
the employees of that company.

When I was employed by KoolPrint i was told that it is US based company and we are providing services from Pakistan. But then i realize that they are cheating the customers as well as us. Shami Khoker is Pakistani National but he left Pakistan, long time ago.

His real name is Ehtisham Shami Khoker. He has exploited not only the customers but also all the employees. He has not only cheated USA or UK but also Pakistan.

Anyway I appreciate your efforts.

Thanks & Regards,

Have the name of this poster on file, only I believe it should be kept confidential.

Hi, I know this is now March, 2009; but I only just found all this complaint stuff about KoolPrint.....

In 1996 or 1997 I ordered from them, a large order and prepaid for all of it... nothing you havent heard before....

However, I DID get my order, and it was as promised, EXCEPT that the color scheme on the decals were wrong... I sent them back, and a few weeks later recieved another shipment, which ALSO was wrong... okay I sent those back and about a month later, they sent the third shipment, and these were, finally, right.... I was thrilled.... until I tested one of them...

I had ordered double peel decals, you peel off the adheshion, and apply it, then peel off the top sheet. Know what I mean? upon peeling off the top sheet, the ink would tear and peel off along with it.. it was awful...

I went and very seriously laid into KoolPrint after that, and demanded a refund ( $2800.00) They denied any fault whatsoever, and shipped back the first two orders, and told me I had recieved my moneys worth... I still have several packets of decals I cannot use for their intended purpose, and over the years have just given them away ...

A very bad experience. I only learned of all of this complaint stuff against them when I just now tried to access the website, it will not come up... and I really needed that file of the decal that was stored there... lol....

Back to the drawing board, I guess... *sigh*.....

If you have problems with Koolprint, please take some time to post here: http://koolprint.wordpress.com. It appears to be a Koolprint sponsored venture, but comments seem to get published - so lets use their own site to make the public aware of their behaviour.

Al,

They have promised refunds to others, however I have not found they lived up to their word ever, about anything, including refunds.

The only thing we can hope for is sites like this one and others showing how unethical koolprint is, will prevent others from contributing money to their scam operation.

Any business I can think of that operates like koolprint would be standing tall in front of the Attorney General's office or the Federal Trade Commission here in the US.

How to file a report: Courtesy of Chad.

1. Create a Statement of Facts doc similar to what we produced. Try not to include anything in the document that can’t be confirmed via email or some other means (i.e. you took notes of your telephone conversation during the call or immediately after it). You need a factual timeline of everything that occurred.

2. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau

a. http://complaints.bbb.org

b. Cut-&-paste your Statement of Facts doc

3. Credit Card Purchases. In a credit card purchase dispute, the card issuer may credit your account and charge the item back to the business - if you follow certain steps.

a. Write to your credit card issuer at the address for errors or inquiries found on your billing statement.

b. Include vital information such as your name and account number, the date and amount of the disputed transaction and the business name and address.

c. Describe the dispute. Explain in detail actions you have taken in good faith to resolve the complaint, and why you feel the business should not be paid.

d. Send photocopies of any papers or other documents you believe relate to the transaction. Do not send originals!

4. File a complaint with the Texas Attorney General’s office

a. http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml

b. KOOLPRINT is located in Harris County

c. Business address is 6750 WEST LOOP S STE 140, BELLAIRE, TX 77401

d. Cut-&-paste your Statement of Facts doc

5. File a claim in Harris County Small Claims Court against VISION SYSTEMS LTD CO. dba KOOLPRINT

a. If you paid by credit card, I wouldn’t file a claim. You’ll be more likely to get a refund from the credit card company. If you paid by cash, check, or wire transfer, Small Claims Court may be your only recourse to getting money back.

b. Read information about Texas small claims court found here: http://www.culpepperlaw.com/jpclaims.htm

c. Read instructions for Harris Count Small Claims found here:

http://www.jp.hctx.net/civil/Civil.pdf

d. Fill out the attached Small Claims Petition Form. Whatever value you put in the amount field you better have written documentation to prove it. Although we spent several hours dealing with the Koolprint and processing our claim, we are only requesting the amount that we paid Koolprint for our order (no mailing fees, hourly wages, lost sales, etc.) A judge is only going to award you loses you can prove in writing and probably only what you paid to Koolprint for printing.

e. Print out Statement of Facts doc and have it and The Small Claims Petition form both notarized. (Note: you do not need to take the Petition form to the Harris County Court in person if you aren’t located in the Houston area – you just need to have it notarized).

f. It costs $15 to file the claim and $65 for the sheriff to “serve” the papers to the Defendant (in this case Koolprint). So you’ll need a money order or cashier’s check for $80

g. Send documents & payment to:

Judge Gorczynski
Small Claims Court
7300 N. Shepherd, Rm 138
Houston, TX 77091

h. Wait about six weeks – If you have not heard anything within six weeks, call (713) 697-1224 and check on the status of your case. Realize that if you file a claim, you may have to go to Houston, TX to present your case.
